VALENTINE'S DAY
1: There there were several early Christian martyrs named "St. Valentine"; they all died horribly.
2: It isn't just a conspiracy by florists, chocolatiers and greeting card makers, but they're not exactly complaining, either.
3: Speaking of chocolate and romance, the Aztec Emperor Montezuma would fortify himself with a cup before "entertaining" his harem. We're just saying.
4: It's a terrible day for your birthday to be on. Not as bad as Christmas, but still.
5: The first Valentine's Day "card," is a poem sent by the French Duke of Orleans to his wife while he was in imprisoned in England. It reads, "Roses are red, violets are blue, the weather is terrible, the food's lousy, too." It was in French, of course, so it may lose something in the translation.
6: Among the Internet Movie Database's list of films with "Valentine's Day" in the title, seven are about the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and one is about a lovelorn zombie.
