1989: Four golfers (Weaver, Wiebe, Pate & Price) all make a hole-in-one on the same hole (the sixth) at the US Open. This the only remotely interesting thing that will happen in professional golf until Tiger Woods' wife knocks out his rear window with a 9-iron.

1991: Boris Yeltsin elected president of Russia; celebratory drinking doesn't stop until 1999.
